Making my characters sweat

I would say the most difficult thing for me to learn as a writer is bringing conflict into my characters' lives and making them suffer. I don't have a problem making things tough for them, but I always want to rescue them by the end of the same scene. This does not make for a very interesting story, so I have lots of sticky notes above my computer reminding me to make my characters really suffer.

..... Ummmm, ran out of things to say here.

See?
I talked about the conflict and the resolution and now this post is over. Not very interesting.
I'll set a goal to do better next week. I'm REALLY good at goal setting, which happens to be next week's topic. (Like the tie-in?)

TTFN!
Happy Monday.

PS Today, Mr. Dickinson and I celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary. I wuv u, honey!

I tried to write a suspence once, but kept giving away the clues too easily. Just not my thang...

Happy Anniversary Sweetie!

I remember when I first started writing. My stories were soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring. I just loved my characters so much that I couldn't stand the thought of anything bad happening to them. Then Margaret Yang told me that I had to grab my characters by the back of the head and shove their faces in the meat grinder...and hold them there. It was great advice!

Conflict. Hard. Well, the definition is right. :)

Hey Congrats!!!! Your anniversary is really close to mine :-)

Conflict conflicts me. That should be on a T-shirt. I think conflict is one of the hardest things to do.

Belated Happy Anniversary, Andrea!

I found something of the opposite problem. I wanted to put my characters through so many different disasters, my first story turned into a 200k epic!
